Need to sell your home? Maybe it s been on the market for what seems like ages, and with multiple price reductions, open houses and showings, still you have no bites. In this down market selling a home for maximum value is becoming more and more difficult. It seems the buyers are just dragging their feet and not making critical decisions.

Barring any of the above obstacles, one way I ve found that really works to create interest in houses is a new and motivating feature many agents and homeowners are using: staging. It s the interior (and sometimes exterior) decorating of a house to show it in it s best light. In particular, I’ve found that using fine art is a simple and very effective staging technique. For instance, sometimes a client will have an affinity for neon art not everyone s cup of tea. A home may need new furniture (or if vacant, a full set of furniture). Sometimes a staging company will supply the art and sometimes I supply it. I have a couple artists works I use often (one is k. rishay at www.facetimestudio.com). I find lots of great art online at very affordable prices. I keep a stash of it and use it whenever necessary. Sometimes I even give it to the buyer or seller as an extra incentive or if they express interest.

My interest is getting their houses seen and sold. If they offer their home for a practical price and it is staged or decorated to show it in its best light, they are well on their way to selling their property.
